Hello, hello and thank you for your participation at the 13th ASWA meeting! You want to contribute to the proceedings? Click onto the title of this news or go to --> "Proceedings" --> click on "Intention to submit a paper" to download the form, fill it in and send it (--> @ Contact or aswacyprus2017@gmail.com) by the 31st July. We're looking forward to your contribution :)
Want to know what's on at the conference? Lots will be happening! Check-up "Events, Excursion & Visits".
Dear Presenters (oral and poster), this page is for you! Please read very carefully "Recommendations to presenters" and remember stick to time allocated to you. Thanks!
The conference is now approaching very very fast...so it time to get ready!!! You'll find on the website all the info you need, to get to Nicosia, to find us for Registration on the 6th and to get to the venue on the 7th in the morning whether you take the special ASWA-shuttle or by your own means (see Venue & Transport info). Read everything very carefully and you shouldn't get lost...we hope :) Oh and if you take the ASWA-bus, don't be late...or you'll be left behind :(
There's more info on how to get from Larnaca airport to Nicosia, as well as some useful info on travels to the venue and what's available at UCY New Campus. It contains embedded links to the relevant webpages with more info (airport shuttle, intercity bises, city buses, etc). You shouldn't get lost with all this info! But if you do, give us a shout :)
You can now visualise the final programme. A summary will be available shortly as well as some recommendations to presenters. So in the meantime, go to --> "Programme" and explore to see what's on!
A little more patience! The website is being updated...tomorrow it'll be all new with programme and everything :)
Only 5 days left to register and pay the conferences fees at a REDUCED COST. Remember to "Register" onto the ASWA website, so we can keep track of registrations, attendance to events (thanks!) and proceed to payment as describe on the "Registration fees" page. PLEASE, READ CAREFULLY THE ENTIRE PROCEDURE, everything is there. Make sure you register on the ASWA website and pay your fees on the JCC page before 30th April CYPRUS TIME (GMT+3), if you want to benefit from the reduced cost. After the 30th April, fees will be at 60 euros for Students and 120 euros from Permanent Scientists.
Some of you have been asking about final programme as you might not be able to attend the entire meeting. To finalise the programme and let you know when you'll be presenting, we need to be sure that presenters are indeed coming. So, Dear Presenters, PLEASE, PLEASE, IF YOU CANNOT MAKE IT LET US KNOW BY MONDAY-TUESDAY NEXT WEEK. It'll give us some time to finalise the programme and for people who can only attend a few days, know which days they'll be presenting and still benefit from early bird registration fees. Be nice and considerate of your colleagues and tell us if you're NOT coming! THANKS :)
Sincere apologies for the delay...It is finally time to register and pay for the conference!!! To know how to proceed, please read carefully the entire procedure "How to proceed to payment of the conference fees" in "Registration fees". If you need help or precisions give us a shout :) For those who pre-registered, please complete your form with fees, etc., so we can validate your registration, Ta!
So apparently, the island effect also apply to the size of posters XD...Posters should be limited to vertical A1 (594 x 841mm; 23.39” x 33.11”).
You're probably wondering “when can I finally register and pay!”. Yes we know...and apologies for the delay...well, it's coming very soon! We're working hard to put everything into place and it should all be set next week. Make sure you check the news to know when that happens!
There are some new updates about the venue (exact location and full address, maps to the venue, etc.). Check out the Venue section in “Accommodation & Venue”.
If you haven't booked a room yet, remember to do it asap! If you're booking with one of the hotels, which provided offers, make sure that you quote 'ASWA2017' and mention 'ASWA conference organised by the Archaeological Research Unit of the University of Cyprus'.
We've have now worked out a preliminary programme for the excursion day (happening on the 10th June). Check out “Excursion & Visits” to know what's coming for you...sit back and relax!
We've received another offer from the Cleopatra (****). Check out “Accommodation & Venue”.
Whether you're presenting at the ASWA or just participating to the meeting, if you require an invitation letter to apply for a visa to come to Cyprus, please get in touch asap. Go to “HELP” at the bottom of the page --> Click on @ Contact.
We've got a new offer from Castelli Hotel (***), for ASWA participants. Check out "Accommodation & Venue".
Unfortunately, we were not able to reserve accommodations close to the venue, on behalf of the ASWA 2017. Nevertheless, we have negotiated some special offers for you in a few hotels and we are still awaiting for a couple more. Don't wait too long as rooms tend to be booked way in advance. Check out “Accomodations & Venue” for more info!
Our budget for financial support is very limited! We want to remind that financial support will be given in priority to participants who can obtain another partial source of funding (have a look at what your University/Institution may offer such as “Travel Prize” or “Conference Fund”). If you have already sent your application, please keep us updated if you do find a complementary funding. To reduce accommodation costs, it would be much appreciated if you would be willing to team up to share a room. Deadline for submitting an application for a financial support is set to 30th of March.
You can now find info about the cost of registration to the 13th ASWA (inclusive and additional costs) and how to apply for financial support (please read the requirements and make sure that you are eligible before applying for financial support). Go to the “Registration fees” page. Info about modalities for payment will be available shortly.
There are 10 “manimalistic” thematic sessions. Oral presentations as usual should be 15 minutes long with additional 5 minutes for questions/comments. For posters – and wait for this lucky you! – not only there'll be a one or two hour(s) poster session to discuss your work (obviously with people interested in the subject!) in a relax atmosphere around refreshments, but you'll get to speak about it for 5 minutes (lightning presentation) to everyone, interested or not. Also, whatever you're presenting, take this opportunity and be creative with your design...if you dare. Let's bring more visual fun(ny) Arts!!!
